You don’t know, do you? So, let Mike Robertson tell you.

“I’m a professional speaker, author, musician and storyteller. The main topic I speak about is creativity: how you can become more creative and some of the amazing changes you can experience once you do learn to think in a creative way.”

– Tell us more about your books…

“I’ve written three books, all very different from each other. My first one was a collection of short, humorous, inspiring essays. The second book was a historical novel about the birth of the motion picture business. My latest book, though, is The Pizza, the Peach & the Platypus, an expansion and accompaniment for my signature keynote speech on creativity. In the book, I’m able to go into much greater detail and share more personal stories of cool changes in my life that have happened because I got off the beaten path and used my own creative abilities.”

– Do you have a specific writing routine?

“The writing routine that seems to work for me is sort of a quota system. When I wrote my novel, I set myself a requirement of three pages a day. Regardless of quality, if I actually typed three pages, I could stop if I wanted. In just a couple of months, I had a great story. For this book, I tried to do 1500 words a day…but there were some days I hit 4000 words, just because I was on a roll.”

– What’s next for you?

“I already have the idea for my next book and will begin writing it very soon. In the meantime, I’ll be traveling and speaking to audiences about the current book. It’s a great feeling when someone in the audience is inspired to do something new as a result of hearing me speak. I’ve heard from people who did standup comedy, started their own business, or wrote their first book—at the age of 85—and that has been very gratifying.”
